Financial Assistance

There is no registration fee for the course. Partial financial support for travel and lodging (only) is available to a limited number of individuals.

To qualify for financial support you must:

  1. Receive FULL selection status for participation in the summer semiar,
  2. Live within the United States at the time you file your application and during the summer session, and
  3. Request financial support in your application.
Civil servants, employees of NASA contractors, and individuals living outside the United States are not eligible for financial support. JPL employees and contractors, and Caltech students and employees are only eligible for support for local transportation costs.

Participants must initially incur all expenses, then file a travel expense report within 30 days of completing return travel to their point of origin. Participants will be reimbursed 6 to 8 weeks after their travel expense report is received at JPL. The travel report form must include the original hotel and transportation receipts. Copies of receipts are not acceptable. Rental car expenses will be approved on a case-by-case basis. When processed by JPL's travel accounting group, checks will be issued to reimburse the individual for 80% of expenses up to a maximum of $1100 per person. It is JPL policy to mail reimbursement checks to home addresses only and not to institutions. Allow 6 to 8 weeks after the travel reports are received at JPL to receive reimbursement checks.

Applications must be submitted electronically by April 3, 2017, 11:59 pm Pacific Time.
